How it works

Create a weekly schedule and watch as your employees purchase their shifts (with points) the same way you would book a hotel or movie tickets.

ShiftShop's dynamic pricing algorithm makes sure that employees are incentivized to fill every shift, not just the popular ones, and keeps things fair for everyone.

That's right. The schedule is made for you! All you have to do is approve it, although you can still make any changes you want.

Frequently asked questions

How do you make sure all shifts are filled?

ShiftShop uses a dynamic pricing algorithm that learns which shifts are the most and least popular and prices them accordingly.

It's basic supply and demand: more popular shifts (for example, a server shift on a Friday night) will be more "expensive" to book than less popular shifts (like Tuesday afternoon).

Employees have a limited budget of points they can spend to "purchase" shifts which carries over week to week. Shifts are priced such that no one can afford to book all the best shifts every week.

So if you didn't get the shifts you wanted for this week, you will have more points left over to buy those shifts for next week.

What if I only want specific employees to work certain shifts?

As the manager, you always have full control over the schedule. You can always simply assign any given shift to an employee.

You can also set requirements for shifts. For example, you can make it so that only employees above a certain experience level or with a certain role can take those shifts.

What about shift trades?

Rather than trade a shift, employees can simply mark their shift as "for sale". Other employees will then be able to buy that shift (with points) at a reduced cost from the original employee.

If two employees want to trade, they can simply buy each other's shifts. This helps keep everything fair if you end up trading your Friday for a Tuesday to cover for someone. The extra points you made can be used to buy another Friday shift later on.

It really only takes a few minutes?

That's right! The actual shifts don't change much week to week, only the people working them. Your staff will book themselves into the calendar, you just need to review and approve it, or make changes as necessary.

What if I don't end up liking the schedule this week?

As the manager you always have full control over everything in the schedule. You can add or remove people from shifts, move shifts around, add new shifts or delete them, or anything else you want.

Employees will have their points reimbursed if they're removed from a shift they've already purchased, and won't be charged for shifts they're assigned to.

With ShiftShop, the worst case scenario is you having to make the schedule yourself, which is what you've already been doing.
